Understanding Amygdala : What is Amygdala?

Amygdala is an implementation of a Spiking Neural Network simulator. Amygdala is still in early stages of development so don't bet your job on it. This doesn't mean it's useless. Here is a short summary of what's already in place:

  • Neuron models emphasizing on speed and others with an emphasis on biologically accurate modeling
  • Support for SMP machines
  • Evolving neural networks using a Genetic Algorithm
  • Tools to analyze and visualize the topology of the NN
Future versions of Amygdala will have
  • Support for clusters of workstations and massive parallel machines such as the IBM SP/2
  • Graphical cluster management tools
  • Graphical neural network design tools
  • Support for Intel's C++ compiler
